Exciting News – Court Upgrades Coming Soon!
New Tiger Turf Courts to Replace the Artificial Grass Courts & kids zone court
BEFORE & AFTER
We’re delighted to share an important update on the carpet courts and Kids Zone court replacement project at LSTC.
A Big Thank You
Firstly, thank you to all members who reached out with feedback. Your comments have been invaluable in shaping this project. We also appreciate your patience while the board carefully explored every option, tested surfaces, and ensured our decision best meets the needs of all members. What’s Happening?
From 1st September 2025, we’ll begin replacing our four carpet courts and the tarmac Kids Zone court with a new TigerTurf Advantage Pro artificial grass surface.
Why TigerTurf Advantage Pro?
- All-weather playability – more reliable than carpet, especially in damp or cold conditions.
- Choice of surfaces – maintains variety alongside our other outdoor courts.
- Proven quality – already widely used at nearby clubs, familiar to many members.
- Durability & performance – TigerTurf’s most advanced surface, designed for consistency, safety, and longevity, approved by the ITF.
Why Replace the Kids Zone Court?
The current tarmac surface isn’t popular with members. By upgrading:
- We gain a more desirable 8th outdoor court during busy times.
- It will play better than tarmac in damp conditions.
- It remains suitable for mini tennis, with booking adapted so adults and juniors can access it at different times of the day.
What Will the Courts Look Like?
- Main courts: Green surface with dark green surround – classic and cost-effective, with clear contrast.
- Kids Zone: Dark green court and surround (keeping the blue mini-tennis lines), ensuring a clean, simple look.
Who Will Be Doing the Work?
We’ve appointed Chiltern Sports Contractors, highly recommended specialists and accredited Principal Contractors with the Sports & Play Construction Association (SAPCA). They’ve successfully installed TigerTurf courts at numerous local clubs including Knebworth, Welwyn, Harpenden, Elliswick, and more.
Project Timeline
- Start date: Monday 1st September 2025
- Duration: Approximately four weeks (weather permitting).
Disruption & Court Availability
- Clay and indoor courts remain open and bookable throughout.
- Court access will be managed fairly to balance member play and club programmes.
- We’ll keep you updated with regular progress reports and detailed scheduling closer to the time.
- Members can watch the transformation from the clay courts as the works unfold.
This is a major step forward for LSTC, and we’re confident the upgrades will make a big difference to your playing experience. Thank you again for your support – we can’t wait for you to enjoy the new courts!
